Missouri crash claims lives of two Benton County residents
HENRY COUNTY, Mo. — Law enforcement has reported that two people from Benton County have died following a three-vehicle crash on Sunday, May 17. According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) crash report, a 77-year-old woman and an 81-year-old man, both from Lincoln, Missouri, have died after a crash in Henry County on Sunday. MSHP states the incident occurred around 2:55 p.m. on Missouri Route 7 at NW 311th Road. Troopers say the crash occurred as the 77-year-old Benton County man was driving a 2016 Ford Taurus with the 81-year-old as an occupant, when he crossed into the westbound lanes and struck a 2023 Nissan Maxima driven by a 54-year-old Clinton woman. Officials say the Clinton woman was struck by a 59-year-old Stillwell, Kansas, man driving a 2015 Ford F150 following the collision. MSHP reports the Kansas man's vehicle overturned as a result of the impact. The two Benton County residents were both pronounced dead at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital. The next of kin have been notified. The Clinton woman is said to have sustained serious injuries and was transported by helicopter to Truman Medical Center. MSHP was assisted by the Henry County Sheriff's Office and the Clinton Police Department in the incident.
