Metro driver accused of causing crash that killed Cincinnati city worker arrested, charged
CINCINNATI (WKRC) — The Metro bus driver accused of causing a crash that killed a City of Cincinnati employee on the Norwood Lateral has been arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter. Kyle Taylor is scheduled to be arraigned Friday on a misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter charge. The charge stems from a July 16 crash on westbound state Route 562 involving a Metro bus and a city road maintenance crew. According to a police crash report, Taylor was driving the Metro bus when he failed to notice a City of Cincinnati work crew moving slowly on the shoulder. Investigators allege the bus struck the rear of a city maintenance truck, pushing it into a trailer being towed by another work truck. Police said three city employees were riding on the trailer at the time. Two workers were able to jump clear, but 46-year-old Jonathan Young was thrown from the trailer and run over by the second work truck. Young died from his injuries. The crash remains under investigation. A Metro spokesperson said: We are aware of the charges brought against Mr. Kyle Taylor. Mr. Taylor has been placed on administrative leave, which is our standard practice while the matter is under investigation. We are unable to provide further comment at this time. Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of Mr. Young."
