Medical examiner called to fiery crash on Highway 12 in Walworth County
A serious crash shut down Highway 12 in Walworth County after a vehicle left the roadway and caught fire. The crash happened around 9 a.m. on Highway 12 eastbound near Highway 50 in Bloomfield Township, closing the eastbound lanes from Highway 50 to Pell Lake Drive.The vehicle went off into the trees, starting a fire that burned a tree. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and brought brush firefighting equipment to the scene as a precaution.The medical examiner responded to the scene. Authorities have not released details on what led to the crash.The highway reopened after nearly two hours, with one lane passing the scene. Crews remained on scene working to remove the burned vehicle from the trees.
