Married couple in their 20s killed in Blue Springs crash, police department says
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Blue Springs Police Department announced that a married couple was killed in a crash last week. The driver of one car involved in the crash was declared dead at a hospital after the crash. Another passenger in that car was taken to the hospital in critical condition; police reported Saturday that the passenger died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The driver and passenger have been identified as Kody Ballard, 26, and Aubree Ballard, 26, of Blue Springs. They were husband and wife, police said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with their family, friends and all those affected by this tragic loss," the police department said. The crash happened Thursday, July 2, at about 5:20 p.m. at 19th Street and westbound 40 Highway. Another driver from a separate car suffered minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
