Marksheffel Road closed overnight on Monday
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The City of Colorado Springs has announced that Marksheffel Road will be closed in both directions on Monday, Feb. 16, for overnight construction work. The closure will stretch from just south of Tarren Heights to Stetson Hills Boulevard, and will begin at 7 p.m. on Monday evening. In their official release, the City says that construction noise is expected in the area during the operation, and crews will work from 7 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to shift the Dublin Boulevard and Marksheffel Rd intersection into a new traffic pattern. During said work, traffic will be moved toward the center of the intersection to create space for work areas at each corner for the construction and installation of new traffic signals. According to the City, the Dublin Blvd and Marksheffel Rd intersection will remain open during the work. Tuesday, Feb. 17, flaggers will assist alternating traffic on Marksheffel Rd into a single lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. while workers pour asphalt over buried pipe. Colorado Springs requests all drivers in the area to use extra caution when traveling through the work zone. A signed detour will direct Marksheffel Rd traffic to Peterson Road, Dublin Blvd, and Stetson Hills Blvd. Drivers with this area in their commute should keep in mind that Tarren Heights only provides neighborhood access and does not connect to other streets that would be a suitable detour. Once improvements have been made to the two-lane section of Marksheffel Rd from North Carefree Circle to Stetson Hills Blvd, the road will be two lanes in each direction with a center median, improved drainage, new sidewalks, and paths.
