Man killed after being run over by MTS bus in San Diego

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A 29-year-old man died Thursday night after a collision involving San Diego Metropolitan Transit System bus in downtown, authorities said. According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred around 9:50 p.m. in the 300 block of West B Street in the Core Columbia neighborhood. Investigators say the man was lying on the ground along the north curbline in a dirt parkway when an MTS bus stopped nearby. For reasons that remain under investigation, the individual moved his legs into the roadway and was positioned partially in the street, with his legs extending in front of the rear axle of the bus. As the bus pulled away from the curb, it ran over the man's lower legs, police said. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released at this time. The circumstances leading up to the incident are still unclear and remain under investigation.
