Man hospitalized after Plainfield Township crash, MSP says
PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — An 82-year-old man died after a crash north of Grand Rapids Tuesday afternoon, police say. The wreck happened around 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of Northland Drive and 7 Mile Road, according to the Plainfield Township Fire Department. As a vehicle headed south on Northland Drive turned left onto Seven Mile Road, it was hit by a northbound vehicle, according to Michigan State Police. A man who was a passenger in the southbound vehicle was rushed to the hospital. MSP said he ultimately died as a result of his injuries. His name was not released Tuesday, but police said he was 82 years old. "Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones during this difficult time," MSP said in a social media post. No one else was seriously injured, MSP told News 8. Police said the crash remained under investigation. Northbound Northland Drive was closed for a while between 7 Mile Road and West River Drive, firefighters said, but it has since reopened.
