Man from Hardin dies in I-90 accident close to Big Timber

A man from Hardin tragically lost his life in a collision on Interstate 90 near Big Timber. The incident occurred on Saturday at 5:21 p.m. in the eastbound lanes at mile marker 369. According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the 74-year-old man's Mazda CX-5 broke down in the middle of the driving lane, leading to a collision with an International commercial vehicle in the same lane. The Mazda was pushed across the center line and went off the left side of the highway. The man, whose identity has not been disclosed yet, was transported to a medical facility but sadly passed away due to injuries sustained. He was not wearing a seat belt. The driver of the commercial vehicle, a 51-year-old man from Billings, was unharmed. The road was snow-covered at the time, and drug involvement is suspected in the crash; however, it is not specified which driver may have been under the influence.
