Man faces charges after Market Street crash kills one, injures three

Charges are pending for a 36-year-old man who authorities say drove off Market Street and hit four pedestrians, killing one and injuring three. Steven Kolsonis was identified as the driver of the 2021 Ford Explorer that ran off the road at the intersection of West Market and Buffalo streets. The Tennessee Highway Patrol said Toby Cornett, 34, was killed in the crash. According to the THP, Kolsonis was driving west on West Market Street a little before 1:30 a.m. Saturday when he crossed the intersection, entered the eastbound lane, lost control of the Explorer and struck the four people, along with a city lamp and a sign. Ethan Saxon, 22, Macy Street, 23 and Riley Gowan, 23, were injured and Cowan suffered fatal injuries. A passenger in the Explorer, Dominique Neal, also has charges pending against him, the THP report said. Neal was also engered. A second passenger in the SUV, Joseph Marcotte, was not injured and authorites said he is not facing charges at this time.
