Man dead in third fatal pedestrian crash in Fairfax County in one day

Late Thursday night, a man died after being hit by a car in Fairfax County, but the death was the third pedestrian fatality in the county in less than 24 hours. That's according to the Fairfax County Police Department, which announced the crashes throughout the day while their officers were still responding to each scene. The next was in the evening, around Leesburg Pike and Munson Hill Road. The third crash happened off Gallows Road and Strawberry Lane, where FCPD said a man was hit by a car. "The adult male pedestrian was transported to a hospital and pronounced deceased," FCPD said. "The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene." Police haven't yet announced any charges have been filed in any of the three crashes, but all three are still under investigation.
