Man critically injured after collision between truck and transit train
(FOX40.COM) — A man is in critical condition after a light rail train collided with his truck in Rancho Cordova on Friday afternoon, fire officials said. Video: Car left suspended on wire near SacRT railroad line The accident happened around 1:02 p.m. at the intersection of Folsom Boulevard and Kilgore Road, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department. The Sacramento Regional Transit train pinned the truck against a light rail electrical pole, fire officials said. The truck had to be stabilized before the man could be extricated. He was transported to a local trauma center in critical condition, fire officials said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Fire officials remind drivers to always obey railroad and light rail crossing signals. “Never drive around lowered crossing arms or attempt to cross tracks when warning devices are activated,” Sac Metro Fire said. “These safety systems are in place to prevent tragic incidents and save lives.” This is a developing story.
