Man charged with involuntary manslaughter in fatal collision near Goose Creek

(WCBD) – A man has been charged by the North Charleston Police in connection with a fatal crash in North Charleston last week, where scrap metal that was improperly secured in his truck led to a collision resulting in the death of Sach'e Brown, 33. Mario Alavez Hernandez is facing charges of involuntary manslaughter for the crash that occurred on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the corner of Highway 78 and N.A.D Road. He has been taken into custody at the Al Cannon Detention Center with a bond set at $250,000. Authorities reported that the insecure scrap metal fell onto the roadway, causing the collision that claimed Ms. Brown's life at the scene. The Charleston County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Ms. Brown, who was traveling from Goose Creek, lost control of her vehicle and collided with a commercial truck at N.A.D Road. As a result of the crash, a significant amount of diesel fuel spilled from the 18-wheeler, necessitating the closure of the road for several hours for investigation and cleanup.
