Man charged with involuntary manslaughter in 2025 fatal crash

ST. LOUIS - A St. Louis Circuit Court judge signed an arrest warrant for a Ferguson man for a car crash a little more than a year ago that left one person dead and another injured. According to a probable cause statement from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the crash happened around 3:15 p.m. on May 28, 2025, at North Broadway and Calvary Avenue, in the North Riverfront neighborhood. Police said Javon L. Harris, 31, was driving a Nissan Altima at 68 miles per hour when he ran the red light at the intersection and crashed into a dump truck. The driver of the dump truck was injured. Traffic camera footage from the intersection of North Broadway and Switzer Avenue showed Harris passing stopped vehicles in an oncoming traffic lane and running a red light moments before the crash. A passenger in the Altima died in the crash, police said. The St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office charged Harris with first-degree involuntary manslaughter. Once he's in custody, Harris will be held without bond.
