‘Major injury’ crash shuts down roadway in Sutter County near Highway 99
(FOX40.COM) — A crash in Sutter County on Thursday evening sent one man to the hospital with major injuries and resulted in the roadway being shut down, officials said. Video: Emergency declared on presence of invasive golden mussels CHP Yuba-Sutter officers said around 5:30 p.m., a Honda Odyssey was traveling eastbound on Riego Road near Pacific Avenue when it side-swiped a semi-truck, which caused the Honda to lose control. It then collided head-on with a Toyota Sienna. The Toyota, which was carrying a family of six, left the roadway following the crash and entered a body of water, officers said. The Toyota's driver, described by officers as the father of the family, was transported to a local hospital with major injuries. The other occupants — including children — suffered minor injuries. The Honda driver was also injured, officers said, although their condition is not known. The roadway was shut down for a brief period following the crash. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. This is a developing story.
