Louisiana State Police probing fatal motorcycle accident

The Louisiana State Police are currently looking into a fatal motorcycle crash that took place in Slidell on Thursday evening. Initial findings suggest that the motorcycle, operated by 61-year-old Brian Chappell from LaPlace, was heading west on I-10 near LA 433 in the right lane. Concurrently, an SUV was also traveling west in the center lane. It is still unclear why the motorcycle veered into the center lane and collided with the SUV from behind. Chappell lost control of his motorcycle, veered off the road, and crashed into a ditch, resulting in his death due to serious injuries sustained at the scene. The passenger on the motorcycle was taken to a nearby hospital and is currently in critical condition. The SUV driver did not sustain any injuries in the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
