Leonville Elementary teacher killed in Sunday I-49 crash near Sunset
SUNSET, La. (KLFY) -- A beloved teacher at Leonville Elementary School was killed Sunday in a car crash, according to family members. Katelyn LeBlanc died Sunday as the result of a crash on I-49 near the Sunset/Grand Coteau exit in St. Landry Parish. She was airlifted to a hospital where she died, sources said. The school confirmed LeBlanc's passing in a Facebook post this morning. "Mrs. LeBlanc was a cherished member of the Leonville Elementary family whose kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her students made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her," the post read. "She loved her students wholeheartedly and poured herself into helping them learn, grow, and feel valued each day." LeBlanc's four daughters are all students at Leonville Elementary, according to the post. "Though Mrs. LeBlanc is no longer with us, her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to children will forever remain a part of our school," the post read.
