Las Vegas driver speeding and crashing into cars, resulting in 3 deaths, according to prosecutors.

In Las Vegas, new footage has emerged showing a driver deliberately speeding towards a red light at over 100 mph and colliding with multiple stationary cars, resulting in the tragic deaths of his pregnant girlfriend and two others, as stated by prosecutors. Jose Gutierrez, aged 19, is alleged to have purposefully accelerated towards a line of stopped cars at an intersection on November 18. The crash led to the loss of Gutierrez’s girlfriend, Adilene Duran Rincon, aged 20, who was in the vehicle with him, and another driver identified as Edward Garcia, aged 38. A third individual named Vanessa Vasquez, aged 25, succumbed to her injuries on December 4. Gutierrez faces two counts of intentional murder for the fatalities of Duran Rincon, who was three months pregnant, and Garcia. The intention to potentially add a third count for Vasquez was not immediately clarified by prosecutors. In his defense, Gutierrez mentioned suffering from seizures but had never received treatment, according to documents. Police highlighted that if his claim was true, the vehicle would have slowed down or veered off course. Reports revealed that Gutierrez was speeding at 71 mph directly towards a red light at the time of impact. Footage from the crash displayed Gutierrez accelerating rapidly from 9 mph within five seconds. The prosecution played various videos in court showing Gutierrez driving at speeds of at least 109 mph before the collision. The accident involved 12 cars and 18 individuals, with ages ranging from 5 to 75. Given the severity of the incident, the intersection remained closed for 12 hours. Concerning prior incidents, there was a police call involving Gutierrez and Duran Rincon where Gutierrez was arrested previously for threatening an officer. Post his arrest, Gutierrez settled with prosecutors by pleading no contest to a lesser charge. The proceedings have sparked a challenge on the bail denial by Gutierrez's attorney, emphasizing the need for concrete evidence of intent in a murder charge.
