BREAKING: DPS says car hydroplaned in rain, leading to multiple-vehicle fatal crash

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a multiple-vehicle fatal crash troopers say was caused by a car that hydroplaned in the rain in Orange County. The DPS says a 26-year-old man from Orange lost his life in the collision at about 5:15 this morning on Interstate 10 West near the 870 mile marker, close to FM 1136. The preliminary crash investigation indicates that the driver of a 2006 Acura passenger car was traveling west and reportedly hydroplaned during a period of rainfall and struck the concrete barrier, causing a chain reaction with a 2018 Freightliner truck tractor semitrailer, a 2020 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer and a 2006 GMC pickup. The driver of the Acura, identified as a 26-year-old man from Orange, died at the scene. There were no other injuries reported. The Orange County Sheriff's Office provided traffic control. This is an ongoing investigation and no additional information is available at this time
