Lamesa teen dies in rollover accident on County Road 18

DAWSON COUNTY, Texas-- The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that a single-vehicle crash on Wednesday morning near County Road 18 in Dawson County, Texas, resulted in the death of a 16-year-old from Lamesa. According to a preliminary report, the crash occurred around 5 a.m. on Wednesday. The juvenile was traveling eastbound on CR 18 when she failed to drive in a single lane, resulting in her veering off the roadway and into a south barrow ditch of CR 18. The driver then overcorrected, causing the vehicle to roll over. The driver was pronounced deceased on the scene by Justice of the Peace Larry Duyck. This crash remains under investigation, and DPS officials stated that no additional information is available at this time. Officials also state that weather conditions were clear and the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.
