Lake Wales fatal crash on State Road 60 under investigation: PCSO
A fatal crash in Lake Wales shut down all eastbound lanes of State Road 60 early Wednesday morning, transportation officials said.Polk County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) said the crash occurred around 3:20 a.m. on Feb. 25 on State Road 60 East before West Lake Wales Road. The crash involved a semi-truck and Kia sedan. The semi was traveling east on State Road 60, and the Kia crashed into the back of it "for unknown reasons," per the report. PCSO said the 32-year-old driver of the Kia was not wearing his seatbelt but the airbags did deploy.First responders pronounced the Kia driver from Bartow deceased at the scene. His passenger, a 37-year-old Winter Haven woman, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.PCSO said it is investigating the traffic fatality.
