Kiel School District identifies Fond Du Lac County car crash victim; GoFundMe page set up
KIEL, Wis. (WFRV) -- The Kiel School Area District shared a somber update on Facebook today, identifying a June car crash victim as 17-year-old Kaitlynn Reinhardt, an eleventh-grade student at Kiel High School. "Our entire school district and community will remember Kaitlynn as a kind and caring student that would do anything for those that she cared about," read the post. "Kaitlynn always showed genuine concern for the feelings of others and looked out for how others were being treated." Kaitlynn passed away on June 13. According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office, her vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway. "The vehicle struck a culvert and driveway, became airborne, collided with a utility pole, and subsequently rolled over," a Facebook post from the County Sheriff explains. There were five to six occupants involved in the crash, according to the post. Several passengers, including Reinhardt, were transported to hospitals. The 16-year-old driver was arrested and transported to the Fond du Lac County Jail on suspicion of Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Motor Vehicle. The Kiel School District's Facebook also linked to a GoFundMe page. They've raised $23,000 from 157 donations at the time of this writing. They set an initial goal of $6,000. WFRV will update this story as necessary.
