Joplin teen dies in southeast Kansas crash
CHEROKEE COUNTY, Kan. — A Joplin teen is dead following a vehicle crash in southeast Kansas. It happened around 7:45 Tuesday evening in Cherokee County - when a Ford Fusion was traveling westbound on southeast 110th Street and Southeast Turkey Creek Road - just three miles north of Galena. The Kansas Highway Patrol said for an unknown reason the vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a tree before coming to rest. The driver, Braxon Gough, 19, of Joplin, died as a result of the crash. KHP said it is unknown if a safety restraint was in use due to fire.
