Johnsburg woman mourned after July 4th pedestrian accident
JOHNSBURG | The holiday weekend turned to tragedy late Saturday night when a truck vs. pedestrian crash claimed the life of a Johnsburg woman. Warren County Sheriff's officials said the accident happened July 4th at about 11:42 p.m. on Route 8 near Sodom Cross Road. The vehicle, a 2001 Ford F-450, operated by Chad Baker, 49, of Mooers Forks, was eastbound on State Route 8 when the pedestrian, Joann Sutliff, 64, entered the roadway and was struck by the vehicle. Sutliff was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash is under investigation by members of the Warren County Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Unit and Criminal Investigations Unit. Authorities said Baker showed no signs of impairment and no charges have been filed. The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Bakers Mills Fire Department and Johnsburg EMS. Services for Sutliff have not yet been announced.
