Jackknifed tractor-trailer closes lane of I-95 South in Groton

GROTON, Conn. (WTNH) — Interstate 95 South has reopened on Thursday after a jackknifed tractor-trailer shut the highway down in Groton, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation. The crash, which was first reported around 9:20 a.m., shut down the entire southbound side of I-95 between Exits 90 and 89, according to CTDOT. As of roughly 2 p.m., the highway has reopened. Crews from CTDOT, state police, local fire departments and the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection are on scene for recovery and clean up, according to Connecticut State Police Troop E. No injuries have been reported, according to state police. DEEP has been advised of a fuel spill and a heavy wrecker has been dispatched. Troopers anticipate crews will be on scene for some time.
