ISP: Teen hurt in Springfield motorcycle crash, cited for DUI

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) -- A 19-year-old motorcyclist was cited for driving under the influence and taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle crash in Springfield on Saturday. Illinois State Police troopers responded to 6th Street, just north of Hazel Dell Road, around 8:05 p.m. When troopers arrived on the scene, they learned that a motorcycle rear-ended a minivan. The driver of the motorcycle was taken to a local hospital with injuries. According to State Police, the driver of the motorcycle -- a 19-year-old male -- was cited for DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. State Police added that all suspects are presumed innocent until proved guilty. No further information is available at this time.
