Investigation into Deadly Weather-Related Collision on South Main Street in Lexington
The Lexington police are currently looking into an accident caused by weather conditions that resulted in a fatality when a woman's body was discovered near the crash scene the next day. The incident occurred on South Main Street at the railroad overpass near Wilfred Avenue. A vehicle veered off the road due to wintry conditions, and despite efforts, the vehicle remained at the location overnight. Two young passengers sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital. The victim was identified as Barbara Hartwell, who was walking on the sidewalk when struck by the out-of-control vehicle. Police are consulting with the District Attorney's Office to discuss potential charges related to the incident.
