Inmate dies in Kentucky after ice removal incident
In a regrettable incident at Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex, a prisoner named Marvin Knuckles died following an accident while clearing ice on Jan. 27. The 48-year-old fell and sustained fatal injuries after hitting his head. Despite being rushed to Appalachian Regional Hospital, Knuckles succumbed to his injuries by 7:30 a.m. that same day. Justice and Public Safety Cabinet Secretary Keith Jackson expressed his condolences to Knuckles' family and correctional staff, noting the tragic nature of the event and affirming a commitment to preventing similar accidents in the future. Authorities shared that all inmate deaths are reported to the Kentucky State Police as part of standard protocol. Knuckles, who was serving a 12-year sentence for drug-related offenses, unfortunately lost his life in the incident.
