I-70 collision results in 9 hospitalizations

Tragically, a fatal crash occurred on Interstate 70 in Denver, resulting in the closure of the roadway after sending eight individuals to the hospital. The collision involved a Colorado Department of Transportation plow, a sprinter van carrying a hockey team from California, and two other vehicles near milepost 218. The Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office mentioned that the crash affected both directions of the interstate. Emergency responders, including a Flight for Life helicopter, provided assistance on the scene, with eight individuals taken to the hospital, including five juveniles and three adults. Regrettably, the driver of the van did not survive, and their identity will be disclosed by the Clear Creek County Coroner. As authorities continue their investigation, I-70 eastbound remains closed, and westbound traffic is restricted to one lane, causing delays per Google reports. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes, as hazardous weather conditions are also discouraging travel through Loveland Pass. Further updates will be shared by the CSP Vehicular Crimes Unit.
