I-10 crash in Iberville Parish claims life
Iberville Parish, La. (KLFY) -- A 60-year-old Breaux Bridge man was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning on Interstate 10 in Iberville Parish, Louisiana State Police said. Around 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Louisiana State Police Troopers responded to a fatal crash on I-10 west near milepost 128. Nathan Smiling, 60, of Breaux Bridge was killed in the crash. Preliminary investigation indicates that Smiling was driving a Chevrolet Silverado westbound on Interstate 10 when he was involved in a single-vehicle crash near milepost 128. Following the initial crash, the Silverado became disabled in the roadway, blocking both westbound lanes, police said. A short time later, a box truck traveling westbound struck the disabled Silverado. Authorities said Smiling was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The driver of the box truck was properly restrained and sustained minor injuries. No charges are pending at this time.
