Loop 20 fully reopens after daylong shutdown

Loop 20 has fully reopened after remaining closed for most of Wednesday following Tuesday night's fatal jet crash, the Laredo Police Department confirmed. The department announced that all northbound lanes on the corridor had reopened at 8:51 p.m. The reopening came hours after southbound frontage road lanes were reopened earlier in the day. Wednesday brought widespread traffic delays as the Laredo Police Department worked alongside the Texas Department of Transportation and Webb County constables to direct traffic and manage congestion. The major roadway remained closed as authorities investigated a jet crash that killed 50-year-old Austin tech leader and Capital Factory founder Joshua Baer and injured five others aboard the aircraft. Six bystanders assisted in rescuing the occupants from the wreckage. According to airport officials, the aircraft was attempting to make an emergency landing at Laredo International Airport after reporting mechanical difficulties. The jet was traveling from Los Cabos, Mexico, to Austin when it crashed short of the airfield. The incident remains under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.
