Horror Uniondale Crash Leaves Car Crunched And Upended, Possible Fatality Reported (DEVELOPING)
A two-car wreck on Long Island left one vehicle almost upside down while the other suffered serious damage, according to photos shared from the scene. A Toyota sedan and a BMW SUV collided Wednesday, July 8 on Hempstead Turnpike in Uniondale near Glenn Curtiss Boulevard, officials said. There was a “possible fatality” at the scene, according to John F. Scalesi Jr., a member of the Nassau County Police Department commissioners’ council. The Toyota was totaled in the wreck and ended on its side, with windows smashed, one side caved in, and items strewn across the highway, according to photos shared by Scalesi. The BMW remained upright but suffered significant front-end damage. All westbound lanes of Hempstead Turnpike were closed for about two hours Wednesday afternoon between Glenn Curtiss Boulevard and James Doolittle Boulevard, according to the Nassau County Police Department. Additional information was not released; the eastbound lanes remained open the entire time.
