Homosassa man huffing electronics cleaner crashes car twice: FHP
Video: Top headlines from across Tampa Bay SPRING HILL, Fla. (WFLA) — A Homosassa man is facing multiple charges after the Florida Highway Patrol said he crashed his car twice while huffing electronics cleaner. Dennis Johnson, 42, was traveling down California Street in Spring Hill when an FHP captain noticed his Ford F150 driving recklessly and passing other cars in a no-passing zone. Moments later, Johnson crashed his truck into another vehicle that had just pulled into a driveway, hitting it with enough force to set the airbags off. Johnson tried to flee the scene, FHP said, but crashed into the metal handrail at a bus stop shortly after. He tried to flee once more, but was apprehended and taken into custody. Officers noticed signs of impairment and a white residue around his mouth, followed by the discovery of two cans of electronics duster in the front passenger seat of his truck. Also found was the Walmart receipt for the two cans Johnson purchased just before the crash. FHP said one of the cans was empty and had what appeared to be saliva around the opening. Johnson was booked into the Hernando County Jail and charged with DUI, hit-and-run, and reckless driving with property damage.
