18-year-old killed in Ellenville motorcycle crash
ELLENVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- A recent graduate of the Ellenville High School was killed Thursday in a motorcycle accident. The New York State Police has identified the graduate as 18-year-old Ryan Conklin. Troopers said around 5:19 p.m. on Thursday, they responded to reports of a crash involving a car and a motorcycle on State Route 52. A preliminary investigation determined that while heading westbound, Conklin lost control of his 2024 Yamaha Chappy motorcycle, crossed over the center line and struck an oncoming car. He was declared dead at the scene. In light of the news, the Ellenville School District offered support to the community. "It is with deep sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the loss of one of our Jr/Sr High School graduates, Ryan Conklin of the Class of 2026. This tragedy has profoundly affected our school community, and our thoughts are with the student’s family, friends, and all who are grieving," the district shared. "We recognize that this news is difficult and may bring up a range of emotions. Please know that we are here to support our students, staff, and families through this challenging time. Our school crisis team is available, and a dedicated space has been created for students who would like to speak with a counselor." Troopers said the other driver and their passenger were treated for minor injuries but no tickets were issued.
