Hershey Outlet crash driver told police Tesla was driving on its own
HERSHEY, Pa. (WHTM) - The driver of a Tesla that crashed into a pillar at the Hershey Tanger Outlet told police the vehicle was driving on its own. Derry Township Police say they responded around 11:25 a.m. for the crash. Police say the 2026 Tesla was parked or in the process of parking near a grass median when the "vehicle suddenly jumped the curb, making an immediate right turn, and traveled down the grass median towards the row of stores." The Tesla struck a small tree, three parked vehicles, and a sign before entering the travel lane in front of the stores. With the vehicle heading toward the Oakley store, police say the driver "jerked the steering wheel," causing it to crash into the pillar outside Victoria's Secret. The driver, a New Jersey woman, was legally able to operate the vehicle and was not under the influence, police say. No injuries were reported in the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact police at 717-534-2202. abc27 has reached out to Tesla to see if they are investigating the incident.
