Heavy rain leads to rollover crash in northwest Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — One person was seriously injured in an early Thursday morning crash in northwest Wichita. It happened shortly before 7 a.m. on Kansas Highway 96 near Interstate 235. The Kansas Highway Patrol said heavy rainfall in the area caused an eastbound 2025 GMC Sierra to hydroplane, run off the road and strike a guardrail. The car then rolled an unknown number of times before coming to rest on its side near the guardrail, KHP said. The driver, a 33-year-old Wichita man, was taken to a local hospital with suspected serious injuries. According to KHP, the driver was not wearing a seat belt.
