Gov. Kelly Ayotte and her security detail helped pull the driver of a car that crashed into the Bedford tolls to safety Tuesday, sources tell News 9.Sources told News 9 that Ayotte and her security detail came upon the crash shortly before noon. State police said the governor, her security team and other witnesses helped the driver, who suffered serious injuries and was taken to Elliot Hospital.>> View raw video from the scene:The car, an electric vehicle with Massachusetts plates, caught fire, and firefighters were using a tarp to try to extinguish the fire. The northbound lanes of the Everett Turnpike were shut down as crews fought the fire.Traffic was being diverted off the highway at Exit 13, and some southbound lanes were also closed.Drivers were asked to avoid the area.
