Motorcyclist killed in Northumberland County crash

A 50-year-old Montgomery man was killed Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 44 and Route 405 in Northumberland County, according to Pennsylvania State Police. The crash happened around 1:23 p.m. in Delaware Township. State police said a 2024 Mazda CX-30 was traveling east on Route 44 while a 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling north on Route 405. According to the crash report, the Mazda entered the intersection and collided with the motorcycle after failing to clear the intersection. The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike. Police identified the motorcyclist as Adam E. Erdly, 50, of Montgomery. He suffered fatal injuries and was transported by Warrior Run Area Fire Department personnel to Geisinger Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Mazda, Arman G. Shirazi, 47, of Nanticoke, suffered suspected minor injuries and was taken to Geisinger Medical Center for evaluation. A passenger in the Mazda was treated at the scene for suspected minor injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. State police said the investigation is continuing. A charge related to duties at stop signs is listed as pending investigation against the Mazda driver.
