GoFundMe started for Lancaster family after car crashes into home, injures baby girl
A fundraiser has been started for a Lancaster County family trying to recover after a violent crash sent a speeding vehicle through the wall of their home, injuring their 11-month-old girl in the process. Around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Pennsylvania State Police said a driver was traveling near 80 miles per hour down East 28th Division Highway near Hershey Road before smashing into a utility pole, then a tree, before crashing into their home. Emergency officials said the crash was so severe that the vehicle's engine block flew from the car, caught fire, and then crashed into a toy bin inside the home, injuring 11-month-old Savannah in the process . The child’s grandmother, Barb Ruhl, said the family believes the little girl survived by a miracle. “God is real. There’s no way God didn’t save them,” Ruhl said. “The engine block was so close to the kids. It missed her head by probably an inch.” In the aftermath of the crash, the family is left trying to pick up the pieces. From tattered family photos, destroyed toys, smoke and chemical damage, and a home that is no longer safe to live in. Power was shut off to the home due to safety concerns from the fire, gas, and chemicals caused by the crash. As of the time of this writing, nearly $4,700 of the target $8K has been raised to help ease some of the financial burden the family is carrying. Ruhl told CBS 21 that Savannah spent the night in the hospital with what was described as a large bump on her head, and she is now recovering. To donate and help the family recover, click here .
