Footballer in critical condition after sled mishap
A senior football player from Ponder High School is currently in intensive care after a snow sledding accident in Denton County, about 50 miles northwest of Dallas. The student, Caden Nowicki, sustained critical injuries and is being treated in the intensive care unit. The Ponder Independent School District has asked the community to keep Caden, his family, and friends in their thoughts and prayers. The district is also collecting food gift card donations for the family at the high school's front office. Unfortunately, a second teenager involved in a separate sledding incident in Frisco has passed away. Grace Brito died after her sled, which was being towed by a Jeep, hit a tree last weekend. Her friend Elizabeth Angle also suffered critical injuries and passed away shortly after the crash. Brito, who had recently obtained her driver's license, was an organ donor. Her mother mentioned that they are honoring her wishes by going through the organ donation process.
