Food cart owner looking to rebuild business after accident

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) -- An outpour of community support is coming to one New Bern food vendor after losing his stand in a crash last Friday. Originally from Baltimore, Steven Snook started 'Snook Dawgs' close to five years ago with notable menu items including his all-beef hot dogs and homemade chili. He lost his main source of income after a driver tried to move into his lane on US-70 with his cart in the back causing it to clip a median. "It went straight into the big ditch there. It started rolling," Snook said. "It tore up. It peeled everything back. I mean all the insides were out. Everything was everywhere. It was destroyed." Since the accident, a GoFundMe has raised close to $20,000 for Snook to get a new cart and get back on his feet. "The people in New Bern and my friends in Baltimore have all just put so much love and caring into it," Snook said. "I just can't believe it. It's almost like I'm not worthy of it." Snook says he is ready to come back bigger and better than ever with his eyes on trailer that will cost him roughly $30,000. "I just want them (the community) to come out, eat some good food," Snook said. "If there's anything I could do for them or if they got fundraisers, they need somebody set up, I'll gladly help and donate back because everybody's been so good to me. I'm definitely I'm going to be full force giving back."
