Five injured in Belchertown car crash, two in critical condition

BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (WWLP) - Two people were severely injured in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Belchertown. The Belchertown Police Department stated that the crash occurred at approximately 3:45 a.m. on State Street on Sunday after a 911 call reported a vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree, with occupants trapped inside. Belchertown police and fire crews were called to the scene, along with a mutual aid ambulance requested shortly after their arrival. Officials said the vehicle was carrying five people, including the driver. Four occupants were brought to area hospitals by emergency crews from Belchertown, Amherst, Granby, and Palmer, while the fifth person was taken by a family member. Two of the occupants sustained serious injuries from the crash. The crash remains under investigation by the Belchertown Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police.
