Fayetteville kids survive car crash into their bedroom
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A Fayetteville couple said they are relieved their children are alive after a car crashed into their two sons’ bedrooms. Forrest and Nico Follett said they were woken up in the middle of the night by their child screaming. When they went to check on him, they said they discovered a driver had crashed a car into their child’s bedroom at their home on Deane Street. The couple said the driver later told firefighters he had been drinking that night. The couple said "It's definitely the scariest thing that I can think of ever experiencing. Just the sound of the car continuing to rev it's engine like it might come into the house further." The experience had a major impact on their family, they said. "I hope that this was enough because I know a lot of people with drinking problems really have to hit a true rock bottom moment and I hope that rock bottom moment didn't have to be our kids dying. I hope that a near fatal experience was enough to get him whatever help that he needs," the couple said. The couple said police told them 35-year-old James Nolker was responsible for the crash. Washington County sheriff’s records show a James Nolker of Springdale was arrested that night and charged with DWI, reckless driving and criminal mischief. KNWA/FOX24 has reached out to Fayetteville police to confirm that Nolker was the driver who crashed into the house.
