Fatality reported as golf cart driver hit by car on US-92: PCSO
A tragic incident occurred in Lakeland when a golf cart driver was fatally struck by a Buick sedan while attempting to cross US-92 at the Schalamar Creek Drive intersection on Tuesday evening. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected into the westbound lane of US-92 as the golf cart was sent about 50 feet across the road. Two individuals in the Buick sustained minor injuries, while the golf cart driver, who was found with alcoholic beverage containers in the cart, was pronounced dead at the scene. It is reported that the Buick driver was not impaired or speeding during the crash. The Polk County Traffic Homicide Unit is currently investigating the tragic incident.
