Fatal wrong-way collision in Solano County
Early on Sunday morning, a tragic wrong-way crash on Interstate 80 near Fairfield in Solano County resulted in the unfortunate deaths of three individuals. The California Highway Patrol responded to the incident around 2 a.m., where they found a four-car collision on the westbound side of the highway near the Cordelia Weigh Station. The CHP noted that the crash involved two separate incidents, the first one between a white Dodge Charger and a black Land Rover Discovery. Unfortunately, both male occupants of the Charger and the female occupant of the Land Rover did not survive the crash. The CHP is still investigating whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the initial wrong-way crash, which witnesses described as involving a light-colored sedan. The second crash on the same stretch of the highway involved a black Tesla Model Y and a red Toyota Tacoma, with the driver of the Tesla being unharmed and the driver of the Tacoma taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The CHP ruled out drugs and alcohol as factors in the second collision.
