Fatal Fiery Crash in San Fernando Valley
Last night, a tragic collision occurred on the 5 Freeway resulting in a fatal accident, confirmed by authorities. The incident, involving two vehicles, took place at approximately 3:45 a.m. on the northbound side of the 5 Freeway near Osborne Street in Pacoima, close to the junction with the 170 Freeway. Sadly, one of the vehicles involved caught fire, leading to the death of the driver. At this time, details about the deceased individual's identity are not yet available, and the status of any other potential injuries remains uncertain. Footage captured at the scene by KTLA's Josh Jenkins shows the aftermath of the crash as investigators work to clear the debris-laden area, causing traffic congestion. A SigAlert was issued for the northbound 5 Freeway at the 170 Freeway, resulting in a complete closure of all lanes due to the accident. An hour later, the California Highway Patrol reported that traffic was still impacted, with the transition road from the northbound 170 to the northbound 5 remaining blocked, as well as lanes #2, #3, and #4. CHP officials urged caution to drivers passing through the area and expressed gratitude for their understanding during this incident.
