Fatal DUI crash claims life of pregnant woman in Newton County
A pregnant woman tragically lost her life in a car accident in Newton County on Friday morning, resulting in charges of driving under the influence against one of the drivers involved. The incident occurred on Fairview Road near Crestfield Circle, where a black Hyundai Sonata was improperly backing out from a private drive onto the road without yielding. As a result, a BMW traveling westbound on Fairview Road collided with the Hyundai, fatally injuring the pregnant passenger of the Hyundai. The driver of the Hyundai was airlifted to Grady hospital for treatment, while the BMW driver, who was found to be under the influence, suffered injuries as well. Charges are pending for both drivers, and the Georgia State Patrol's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash. The victim's identity has not been disclosed at this time.
