Fatal crash under investigation in West Houston

HOUSTON (CW39) — Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Wednesday morning in west Houston. The accident cleared at 8:15 a.m. after being closed for five hours. According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to a major crash with a fatality at approximately 3:13 a.m. on February 4, 2026, at I-10 West near Gessner Road at the intersection of Neuens Road on the feeder road westbound. Details about how the crash happened, how many vehicles were involved, and the identity of the victim have not yet been released. Authorities have confirmed that at least one person has died. According to the Houston Police Department, around 3:10 a.m. this morning, three suspects were involved in an attempted robbery at an Auto Zone in the 1800 block of Gessner Road. They then led police on a high speed chase. According to the Houston Fire Department and HPD, the chase ended in a crash into a barricade. The driver died at the scene. Two others were transported to the hospital. ALTERNATE ROUTES The area remains closed as investigators work the scene to determine the cause of the crash.
