Fatal crash on Summit Avenue in Greensboro.
The Greensboro Police Department has identified the woman who tragically lost her life in a head-on collision on Friday. The incident occurred around 11:50 p.m. on Thursday at the intersection of Summit Avenue and Helen Road. Reports indicate that a Honda Civic traveling northbound veered across the centerline, colliding with a southbound Toyota Highlander. This impact caused the Honda to veer off the road and hit a tree. Faith Shalita Mitchell, 35, of Greensboro, who was driving the Honda, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Toyota was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. Authorities have stated that weather and road conditions are not believed to have played a role in the crash. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
