Fatal crash on Highway 323 in Texas kills adult, two children
RUSK COUNTY, Texas (KTAL/KMSS) – A 21-year-old and a toddler died after a car crash on State Highway 323 near Henderson, Texas. The Texas Department of Public Safety and Highway Patrol Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 7400 block of State Highway 323 on February 28, 2026. A news release reporting the crash said the vehicle was traveling north and attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone. Preliminary reports indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway, and struck a tree. The driver was identified as River Burks, 21, of Troup, Texas, who died on the scene along with a two-year-old passenger. A six-year-old passenger was airlifted to Ochsner LSU Hospital in Shreveport, where they died as a result of their injuries on March 1, 2026. The crash investigation is ongoing; no additional information is available.
