Fatal crash involving dump truck leaves 1 dead in Pennsylvania
A man died Thursday after a crash involving a pickup truck and a dump truck in Pennsylvania. According to our CBS affiliate KDKA, the crash happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of 18th Street and Main Street. Investigators with the department’s Homicide Unit and Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene. Police said first responders found the driver of the pickup truck injured at the scene. He was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as 76-year-old Zygmunt Olszewski of Sharpsburg. According to investigators, early information indicates the pickup truck driver may have suffered a medical emergency before driving through the intersection and striking a telephone pole. KDKA said the pickup truck was then hit by a dump truck. The investigation remains ongoing.
